MCU Wireless chipset for IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee® applications. It is a bundle of the Atmel AVR ATmega644P and Atmel AT86RF231 radio in the worldwide 2.4GHz frequency band.
The ATmega644P is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller based on the AVR enhanced RISC architecture. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, the ATmega644P achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz allowing the system designer to optimize power consumption versus processing speed. It has 64KB in-system self-programmable flash, 32 programmable I/O lines, six PWM channels, 8-channel 10-bit ADC, and two programmable serial USART.
The AT86RF231 is a rich feature, low-power 2.4GHz transceiver designed for industrial and consumer IEEE802.15.4, ZigBee®, 6LoWPAN, RF4CE, SP100, WirelessHART™, and ISM applications. It is a true SPI-to-antenna solution providing a complete radio transceiver interface between the antenna and the microcontroller. All RF-critical components are integrated on a single chip minimizing the number of required external components to the antenna, crystal and decoupling capacitors.
