PCA9531是一款8位I²C总线和SMBus I/O扩展器,针对红/绿/蓝 (RGB)色彩混合和背光应用中的独立256阶调光LED进行了优化。
PCA9531集成内部振荡器,具有两个用户可编程闪烁速率和占空比,并耦合至输出PWM信号。 通过将闪烁速率设为足够高(100 Hz以上,直到无法以肉眼看出闪烁),然后利用占空比改变LED开启时间,从而改变流经LED的平均电流,即可控制LED亮度。
初始建立序列编程为每个独立PWM设置两个闪烁速率/占空比。此后,仅需总线主机发出一条命令,便可对单个LED执行开启、关闭、闪烁速率1或闪烁速率2等操作。根据编程设置的频率和占空比,闪烁速率1和闪烁速率2将使LED表现为不同的亮度,或以最长为1.69 s的周期闪烁。开漏输出以每位25 mA以及每封装100 mA的最大输出吸电流直接驱动LED。
若要以比1.69 s更长的周期闪烁LED,则总线主机(MCU、MPU、DSP、芯片组等)必须发送重复命令以开启和关闭LED,与使用一般I/O扩展器(如恩智浦PCF8574或PCA9554)所需完成的操作相同。 所有未用来控制LED的位都可用作通用并行输入/输出(GPIO)扩展,当需要额外I/O作为ACPI电源开关、传感器、按钮、报警监控、风扇等功能时可提供简易解决方案。
低电平有效硬件复位针脚(RESET)和上电复位(POR)可将寄存器初始化为它们的默认状态,使位变为高电平(LED关闭)。
PCA9531上的3个硬件地址针脚允许在一条总线上运行8个器件。
